ETB stands for Elite Trainer Box, a Pokémon Trading Card Game product themed around a single expansion. It combines booster packs with play accessories and a reusable storage box.

What comes in an ETB?

Using Scarlet & Violet: Journey Together as an example, The Pokémon Company lists the ETB contents as nine booster packs, a full-art promo card, 65 card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, damage-counter dice, a coin-flip die, condition markers, a player's guide and a sturdy storage box (pokemon.com). Contents vary by era and set: for example, earlier main expansions came with eight packs (Bulbapedia).

Pokémon Center ETB vs regular ETB

Pokémon Center ETBs are sold through the official Pokémon Center. For Journey Together, the Pokémon Center version added two more booster packs (11 in total) and a second full-art promo with the Pokémon Center logo (pokemon.com). The box design is also slightly different (Bulbapedia).

Why collectors keep ETBs sealed

Many collectors keep one copy sealed for display. The outer box is cardboard, so corners, edges and the shrink wrap are what take damage from handling, stacking and dust. That is why many collectors put sealed ETBs in an acrylic case.

The Slab Bunker ETB Acrylic Case fits standard and Pokémon Center ETBs, with an N52 magnetic lid and a flat top for stacking. For tips on picking one, read our ETB acrylic case guide.
